I’m excited about this episode because sometimes we get so caught up in the result that we are creating that we forget about how much the journey matters. It’s about who we become in the process. That’s what I’m diving into today. The journey and why it matters.
Recently I hired an Instagram coach because I wanted to know more about the platform and how to best use it for my business. One of the first steps in her training program is client research. Diving into the data and info; not my favorite part, but I knew enough to know that it’s important and foundational work but sometimes it’s been frustrating for me.
I sometimes struggle to find the best way to convey the intangible benefits of mindset work and personal growth—benefits that are deeply meaningful but harder to quantify in traditional marketing terms.
Another coach I’m familiar with says “people don’t buy the journey; they buy the destination.” I understand what she means, but I don’t think that’s exactly right. The people I work with care about how they build their business, they care about what kind of leadership they embody. It matters to them how they show up.
I will be happy when . . . .
- I’m making a specific amount
- I can go on vacation and not worry about work
- I have X number of rentals
How many of us tell ourselves that? My question for you: why would you wait? Why are we putting our happiness on hold or creating conditions for what that looks like?
Doing mindset work, working on leadership skills, learning how to be resilient, are part of those non-tangible skills that I can’t put in a picture but they are the things that make the journey a lot more enjoyable and meaningful.
Building a business takes a combination of skills and strategies. You might take a course, or sign up for a certification, or hire a coach. You’re invested and still things may not go the way you envisioned but you persevere.
You may get to your destination and feel exhausted. You have the life you dreamed of, and it doesn’t feel like success. You can work on yourself as part of the journey, or you can do it once you get to the destination.
“But when you do personal development work and you are constantly upgrading yourself, when you are working on your leadership, when you are working on yourself, and that is the foundational thing that you do and you put your strategy on top of it, to me, that’s like upgrading yourself.”
The work I do with clients and the transformations created allow them to not only reach the destination faster, but they enjoy the process and carry less emotional baggage. Achieving financial freedom or business success isn’t just about strategy; it’s also about maintaining a healthy mindset and learning to enjoy the ups and downs along the way.
I want to help you prioritize both the destination and the experience of getting there, with a focus on mindfulness, leadership and personal growth. Doing this work means you’re much more likely to make it despite set-backs or challenges.
If you want to get to your destination faster, with less burnout, and if you’re ready to bet on yourself, let’s make this joyful, easy, fun, and rewarding. Sending you love and be well!
