Today’s topic comes from my experience working with high-performing, ambitious women business owners: capacity.
We all want to build businesses that give us freedom, flexibility, and security, but so many of us find ourselves in a grind that drains us.
In this episode, I’m tackling the very common struggle of feeling like there isn’t enough time or space to do the personal development work necessary to grow. I know firsthand how easy it is to fall into that trap of waiting for the “right time” to focus on your leadership, personal growth, or even that next level for your business. But here’s the truth: You don’t need to create the capacity first, you need to do the work to grow the capacity.
Let me break that down.
Capacity Is Not a Strategy Problem
Many women I work with come to me with an impressive set of strategies—they’re juggling multiple streams of income, hustling hard, and staying busy. But here’s where things go wrong: they think they need to build up more capacity before they can take on leadership development or personal growth. This mindset keeps them stuck, repeating the same cycle without growing their businesses or themselves.
You can’t build capacity by avoiding the work that grows it. To scale your business and yourself, you need to work through the mindset blocks that are holding you back.
Focused Growth Beats Overwhelm
One of the most common mistakes I see is trying to take on too much at once. It’s like starting the year with 10 New Year’s resolutions—you feel overwhelmed, and eventually, nothing changes. Instead, small, focused changes create the biggest results. When I coach someone, we zoom in on what really matters and cut out the noise. This is about gaining clarity, being intentional, and understanding that you don’t need to master everything at once.
The Magic of Leadership Work
The work I do with my clients isn’t just about strategy; it’s about life. Leadership work touches every part of your business and your personal life. This work is foundational, and it doesn’t stop when you hit a certain level, it’s a lifelong practice. When you make the decision to commit to that work, everything else starts to fall into place. I’ve seen this countless times in my own life and in the lives of the women I work with.
What Are You Waiting For?
Many people think they need to find the perfect time to start, but the truth is, there will never be a perfect time. The obstacles you’re facing today will always be there unless you decide to take control and start solving for those roadblocks. Decide what you want and start solving for what’s in your way. That’s how you increase your capacity.
If you’re feeling stuck, or like you’ve hit a plateau in your business, it’s probably time to take a step back and do the work that will help you grow.
